"They came to sit and dangle their feet off the edge of the world and after awhile they forgot everything but the good and true things they would do someday"- Brian Andreas

Feeling very blessed.....a good reminder of how the good and bad make us who we've become.

The Workshop

"All of the top achievers I know are life-long learners...looking for new skills, insights, and ideas. If they're not learning, they're not growing....not moving toward excellence."- Denis Waitley

The Workshop is my favorite place in the world ( other than my Dad's workshop) to learn new skills. They teach everything from winemaking, home brew kits, how to do your make up to how to alter your jeans and grow a garden on your fire escape. The reasonable prices, great community and joy of making something myself keep me coming back :) Check it out.

In the Neighborhood: The Search for Community on an American Street, One Sleepover at a Time by Peter Lovenheim

Great read... I mean the man is brilliant, why didn't I think of establishing community by having SLUMBER PARTIES?? We should all probably start inviting our neighbors to spend the night....or dinner, to stay on the safer, less suggestive side of things.

This book really got me thinking about the implications of city living. On the one lane road in the mountains where I grew up knowing your neighbors was normal. Living in San Francisco, it's not unusual to live in the same building as someone and not know their name let alone anything about them..... I'm glad to see people are getting creative in the way they find and build communities.

The book is very entertaining. Buy it, or borrow mine :)
